Westacre Summer Theatre 2008 officially begins on Sunday - when organisers will be welcoming the distinguished star of stage, radio and screen Nicholas Parsons.

He will be performing his one-man show How Pleasant to Know Mr Lear. Audiences will experience a portrait of the nonsensical genius, Edward Lear, as they are taken through his amazing life and unusual personality.

During the 70y minute performance, Nicholas Parsons will present a varied and wonderful selection of Lear's comic and serious verse featuring The Owl and The Pussycat, The Jumblies, The Pobble, The Quangle Wangle, The Yonghy-Honghy-Bo, Uncle Arly and The Dong with the Luminous Nose.

As the host of BBC Radio 4's JUST A MINUTE, which has been on air for more than 40 years and counting, Nicholas Parsons has become a much loved household name.

Westacre Summer Theatre is looking forward to his visit and to seeing 'How Pleasant to Know Mr Lear', for which he has received rave reviews.
