The 2008 programme of events and exhibitions at Watton's Dragonfly Centre continues this month with Quilts! a display of quilts, wall hangings, cushions, bags and other stitched items presented by local group Hackers Tackers and Stuffers. The exhibition takes place from July 12-19 from 10am - 4pm on weekdays (Thursday 10am-7pm), Saturdays (10am-1pm). Sundays closed.

Quilt shows are always full of vibrant colour and originality and this one will be no exception as Wayland's best crafters display their skills. In addition to creating beautiful quilts the group members spend time stitching for charity, making heart cushions for breast cancer sufferers and Linus quilts for terminally ill children.

Admission to the exhibition is free; any proceeds from donations and sales will be to support the Linus Quilts and Heart Cushions.

Quilts! will be followed by Shadows & Ghosts, Memories and Dreams by Liz Murfitt from August 2-16 and the Riverside Potters from the August 30 to September 16.

The Wayland Youth Council, in partnership with the Wayland Partnership and Norfolk Children's Services has made a successful application to the Norfolk Youth Fund to support a summer activity programme for young people in Wayland aged 12 - 16.

There will be a visit to Thetford for swimming on July 25, to Norwich for Ice Skating on July 31 and to Megazone on August 5. Later in the summer the council hopes to organise a further skateboard session at Wayland Community High School and some Drama Workshops - the dates of these are still to be confirmed. Places can be booked now at Wayland House in the High Street for the July events.

Each outing will cost £2.50 and each young person is limited to one outing, though they can also book later for the skateboarding and the Drama Workshops.
