A workshop that encourages people to sing for the sake of well-being is being carried out in Swaffham's Assembly Rooms on Sunday from 2pm - 4pm and is aimed at people who love to sing as well as those who think they can't.
Carol O'Neill, is offering the session at half price as a taste of things to come. A 10-week course follows starting on January 15 2009 on Thursday evenings from 7pm - 9pm. The workshop includes group singing as well as gentle exercise and breathing techniques to warm up the body and voice.
“Singing is proven to be good for the health because of the release of endorphins which are 'happy hormones'. Research also shows that singing boosts the immune system and of course it can be a joyful and fulfilling experience,” said Carol, who is a natural voice practitioner, healer and qualified person-centred counsellor.
“I hear so many people tell me that they can't sing but I always urge them to give it a go. Everyone has the right to sing and you'd be amazed at how easy it is to achieve a wonderful sound. If you've never had any experience before it really doesn't matter.”
