AN Ibsen classic comes to Westacre Summer Theatre this weekend, in the form of a punchy, modern translation of Hedda Gabler.

The visiting Oxford-based Tomahawk Theatre Company will give performances of this gripping drama in the tented arena at West Acre, north of Swaffham, on Friday and on Saturday.

Hedda Gabler is a woman out of joint with her time. She is newly married but retains her own name. She is sexually eager but terrified of sex; ambitious and rebellious yet frightened of scandal. She is imprisoned by prospective motherhood and pursued by a sexual predator; she needs a way out. But can she find it?

Performances start at 7.30pm, and tickets are £12, available by ringing 01760 755800.
