RESIDENTS in Carbrooke are gearing up for a bumper village event this weekend after a decision to run the village fete and associated activities across the whole of the weekend.

Events will kick off on Friday night at 6.30pm in the village hall with the crowning of the fete king and queen who have been chosen from the pupils at Carbrooke School.

This will be followed by a children's' disco until 8pm with a family disco following on until 11pm.

On Saturday the fete proper will be held on Carbrooke's award-winning Millennium Green, starting at 1pm.

There will be the usual attractions including a bouncy castle, beer tent, plant stall, home made cakes, craft stalls and a barbecue. New for this year will be a pet show and clairvoyant.

A full programme of entertainment is also planned including the country group

Back to Back, and the young stars of dance and belly dancing.

For the first time in several years the fun will continue into the evening, with more free live music in the village hall and a hog roast.

On Sunday the Green will again be the focus of activity, with a car boot sale starting at 10am and a football tournament in the afternoon.

Proceeds from the weekend will

be divided between the village organisations - the church, school, playgroup, village hall and Millennium Green.
