NORTHERN lad Billy Fisher dreams of making it big - but will his ambitions ever get past the fantasy stage? And can anyone believe a word he says anyway?
Westacre Summer Theatre's home-grown production of Billy Liar starts its run in the tented arena at West Acre tomorrow at 7.30pm.
The likable young undertaker's clerk, conceived by novelist and columnist Keith Waterhouse, has been making book-lovers, cinema and theatregoers smile for nearly half a century.
There are further peformances of the play on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays until Saturday, July 19.
Tickets are £10 or £12, depending on which night you go, with £6 concessions for those aged 18 and younger.
The first of the summer theatre's Jazz Sundays will be held on the banks of the babbling River Nar, amid the ruins of West Acre Priory, on July 13.
Music will be provided by the Lumière Rouge Ragtime Band, and the event runs from noon until 3pm. Tickets are £6, and children aged 10 and younger go free.
