WATTON CC visited Old Buckenham B in Norfolk Cricket League Division Five looking to extend their winning start. Watton's skipper Steve Parfitt won the toss and opted to bat first.

Watton's batsmen struggled at the start of their innings with only Malcolm Ranson (33) providing much resistance. After 16 overs Watton had lost six wickets with only 58 runs.

But then Joe Oakey (94) and Parfitt (16) pushed the score up to 100 runs and beyond. Oakey, 16, looked in imperious form despatching the bowlers to all parts of the ground on his way to a new personal highest score. The innings ended in the 44th over with Watton being bowled out for 190.

In reply, Old Buckenham's top four batsman couldn't make a significant score. The bowlers took wickets at regular intervals with Ranson returning the best figures of 3-20 from six overs. He was ably supported by Paul Norman (3-33) and Gavin Norman (2-25) Old Bucks were all out for 147 falling short by 43 runs.

Watton have now won their first four league matches this season and are currently second. They next host Lowestoft B at Watton Sports Centre, starting at 2pm.
