St Ives had the better of the exchanges in the early part of the game as Watton struggled to settle into a pattern, and it was St Ives that took the lead with an unstoppable shot which gave Watton's keeper no chance.

Watton gradually took more control and played good passing hockey.

A typically fast-passing move lead to a deserved equaliser from Charlie Paine, to take her side into the half-time break on level terms.

St Ives always looked dangerous on the break and some excellent defending kept the home side from scoring, but it was the visitors who commanded the majority of the play, grabbing the winner through Lucy Briggs late in the game.

Determination saw Watton through to the final whistle to take all three points.

Watton's player of the match was Sam Jeffery, for her constant running and excellent play down the left.
