Ben Squire shook off his injuries from Oulton Park to compete in his local round of the No Limits Racing Series at Snetterton.

The 25-year-old broke his hand, a rib and a finger in the last round of the Metzler Newcomer 1000s at Oulton but the Watton racer was back on his Kawasaki Ninja at Snetterton.

After a day of crashes in wet condition on the test day on Friday, Squire got back into action on Saturday.

'Everyone who knows me knows my passionate hate for riding in the wet, so when Saturday morning arrived and the conditions were no better it was far from ideal,' he explained. 'But still I qualified 10th and came 13th in the afternoon's race – not too bad a result and I was glad to finish the race!'

The sun was out come Sunday and Squire was able to enjoy himself.

'Race two I started 16th on the grid from the previous race's best lap time,' Squire continued. 'Further down than was ideal but I was feeling more confident and comfortable with the weather conditions.

'The race got off to a bad start with two red flags and a long delay whilst the track was being cleaned. This left us with only a four-lap race but I finished sixth.

'More painkillers between races and it was time for race three, starting seventh on the grid from the morning's qualifying. I came home with my best result of the season so far, fourth. Still didn't feel like I was giving 100pc with my injuries but again a really good result... so close to the podium!

'Race four I started fourth on the grid. With a good start off the line coming up to the first corner I soon realised there was an issue with the brakes – the problem being there weren't any! Despite the issues I managed to finish the race seventh for some well-deserved points.'

Squire finished the weekend eighth in the standings, ahead of the next round at Donnington Park on May 14-15.

He added: 'Overall it was a brilliant weekend – a massive thank you to my mum (Kaz Syer) and grandad (Ken Squire) for funding the racing and another big thank you to Karl Frosdick for your contribution.'
