Watton's next game is away at Cromer with United's management hoping the players regain some of the form they showed when beating the Crabs 2-1 on the way to the League Cup final last season.

Watton went into the game against AFC Norwich determined to make amends for one of their worst performances for some time when they lost 5-4 away to AFCNorwich just three weeks previously.

However, United proceeded to turn in an even more disappointing display despite fielding what was probably their strongest squad of the season.

On four minutes a rapid break from the visitors saw the ball quickly played square across the edge of the United penalty area and the in-rushing Blanco got away from his marker to lift his shot over Webster from 14 yards.

Then just six minutes later Watton went two down when they contrived to give the ball away on the halfway line and Denmark broke clear on the right to cross low for a colleague to net from close in.

A shell-shocked United attempted to respond but to all intents and purposes their game went to pieces. The home side were out-fought in midfield and out-worked in several areas. The players were clearly lacking confidence and seemed uncertain at times across the back. They gave possession away with shocking regularity and going forward Watton lacked penetration with their delivery in the final third often too predictable.

Following the opening 10 minutes there were few clear opportunities at either end.

Then Allibone was adjudged to have fouled an AFC player almost on halfway. He was booked for the challenge but AFC's left-back over-reacted and was sent off for raising his arms and pushing Allibone.

At the same time, Williams was surprisingly sent from the substitute's bench for apparent dissent to the assistant.

Watton hit back but only had Nichols' close range volley on 43 minutes to show for their efforts as they trailed at half-time.

Leggett and Webster hesitated in dealing with a huge punt downfield and Blanco nipped in between them to head home.

The AFC keeper made a particularly smart tip over from Campbell's 20-yard shot but Watton looked devoid of ideas and confidence and lost 3-1.
