WITH the Division Five title ensured, Watton travelled to bottom-of-the-table club New Buckenham looking to end the season with another rousing victory.

Victory capped an excellent season for Watton.

Winning the toss skipper Steve Parfitt had no hesitation in choosing to bat first in the sunshine on a good looking batting wicket.

Paul Norman made a typical fast start, hitting S Duncan all around the ground, while at the other C Sturman bowled well with pace and accuracy to reduce the scoring.

The early introduction of A Thompson paid an immediate dividend as Norman was stumped from the spinner's second delivery for 34 runs.

Bruno Norman was joined by in form Joe Oakey both playing elegant shots through the off side. Norman was adjudged out lbw to a ball keeping low for 36 runs leaving Watton on 101-3 from 22 overs.

Joe Oakey continued to play classy shots on both sides of the wicket until he was bowled by R Ferry for 45, just missing out on scoring a fourth consecutive 50.

Watton's middle order needed to dig deep to take the total up and over 200 runs. James Parker (28 not out) was joined by Steve Parfitt (29 runs) and between them, they added 58 runs for the seventh wicket.

Parfitt was out in the last over of the innings, Watton ended up posting a tough target of 217 runs for victory.

After tea, Watton's opening bowlers bowled aggressively making use of the hard wicket, Joe Norman rapped T Hardwick three times painfully on the arms and body, then made the breakthrough having R Ferry caught behind by Joe Oakey for 18.

Wickets began to tumble, all to the bowling of Joe Norman who took all the first six wickets to fall ending with excellent figures of 6-33.

Change bowlers, Richard Dicks (3-28) and Will Oakey (1-6) continued to apply the pressure taking the lower order wickets at regular intervals.

New Buckenham were all out in their 27th over for 94 runs handing victory to Watton by 122 runs.
