Swaffham Town's start to the new year was delayed due to a waterlogged pitch at high-flying Godmanchester Rovers.
The Pedlars used the opportunity for a training session and a chance to blow away the cobwebs following the recent festive celebrations.
Godmanchester head for Shoemakers Lane in the reverse fixture on Saturday, looking for consistency.
The Cambridgeshire side won 5-1 at Newmarket Town on Boxing Day but lost 4-2 at home to FC Clacton in their previous match. Earlier in December they also beat leaders Norwich United 3-0 but lost 5-0 at Kirkley & Pakefield. Swaffham have similarly struggled for consistency, losing 4-0 at Felixstowe, thrashing struggling Whitton 7-0 at home and then losing 2-1 to Walsham-le-Willows at Shoemakers Lane on Boxing Day.
Elsewhere in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, Saffron Walden were held to a 1-1 draw by Fakenham, thanks to player-manager Robbie Harris salvaging a draw in stoppage time. Craig Calver looked to have stolen the win for the Essex side late in the second half but Harris saved the day in the 92nd minute, flicking over the keeper from close range.
Walsham were also held to a 1-1 draw, at home by Gorleston. The Greens were also thankful for a late goal after Andrew Wood had headed Walsham in front in the 24th minute.
Peter Lambert was the Gorleston hero, heading home after Kyle Ingram nodded a Harley Clements cross back across goal, to extend the Greens' unbeaten run to five matches.
Norwich United extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points, thanks to nearest rivals Felixstowe and Walton United being held to a 0-0 draw at Long Melford.
Two goals from top scorer Matt Blake led the reigning champions to a 2-1 win at Hadleigh United – taking his tally for the season to 32 goals in 28 matches.
There was a remarkable result for Great Yarmouth in the First Division, thrashing a young Needham Market Reserves side 9-0.
Eight of the goals came in the first half, with Chris Holmes scoring four, Duncan McAvoy two and Jordan Forbes and Ady Ager both also scoring, before Connor Deeks added a penalty in the second half.
King's Lynn Town Reserves lost 1-0 at home to second-placed Ely City and Pawel Guziejko's reign at Downham Town started with a 4-2 defeat at March Town United, Craig Dickson scoring both of Downham's goals.
• Swaffham Reserves did see action on Saturday, earning a 2-1 victory at home to South Walsham thanks to goals from Joe Porter and James Thompson in a hard fought game in heavy conditions.
That second successive victory lifted the Pedlars into mid-table in Division Three of the Almary Green Anglian Combination, ahead of a trip to league leaders Mattishall Reserves, who have won three of their last four matches.
Swaffham Veterans are looking to build on their good form following their 4-1 double over Harts. North Walsham Town Old Boys visit Shoemakers Lane on Sunday.
The veterans are lying in second position in their league through alphabetical listing, having the same points and goal difference as leaders Mundford.
There is a January break for Swaffham Under-18s, their league campaign will resume in February.
