Saham Toney were at home to Bradfield on Saturday looking to make it three wins in a row for the first time in four seasons.

Winning the toss, Saham elected to bowl first, looking to make early inroads after applying pressure early on, with Saham restricting Bradfield to two an over. Jordan Wood was moving the ball both ways at will and was unlucky yet again not to add wickets to his hard work.

Opening partner Joe Norman bowled with his normal aggression and made the breakthrough in the 13th and 15th overs. Mark Hunter was then brought on to replace Wood and yet again took centre stage, picking up his second five-wicket haul of the season. He picked up a wicket first over and continued to take two more in his first spell.

Craig Ellis picked up his first wicket for his new club, getting rid of Bradfield skipper Wright, and Simon Mower got in on the act, dismissing Kimble as Bradfield tried to fight back. Sniffing a chance to finish the innings early, Norman (3-22) and Hunter (5-29) returned to dismiss Bradfield for 144.

With the track not being as true as usual at Saham, this score looked a little tricky to chase. Skipper Simon Mower asked for solid start, but didn't get it as both openers were back in the pavilion early on, leaving Saham 20 for 2.

Yet again Ben Smart led the reply to get Saham back on track, supported by Mark Hunter. Hunter fell with Saham recovering to 86-3. Saham continued to lose wickets with Xavier Huckle (7), David Ellis (4) and Smart all falling as the game swung back towards Bradfield, with Saham at 111-6. Smart fell for 44, and this brought to the crease the experienced duo of Mower (15no) and William Dyer (17no) and with plenty of overs still in the bag, they set about knocking off the required runs.

This task was completed by the 39th over to give Saham a four-wicket victory.

Next week Saham visit Swardeston B.

Saham Toney A visited Hardingham A in NCL Division Three West and despite being the early morning leaders returned with their tails between their legs after suffering a 10-wicket defeat, despite setting a reasonable total of 186 for 5.

Saham will look for a quick turnaround as they host Reepham & Salle on Saturday – last year's game was a 656-run feast which Saham won by eight wickets.
