Swaffham Town have had a full fortnight to prepare for Saturday's home match in the FA Vase.

The Pedlars haven't played since winning 6-1 at Stewart's and Lloyds of Corby in the opening round of the national competion on September 9.

Their opponents at Shoemakers Lane at the weekend are Rushden and Higham United who play in Division One of the ChromaSports United Counties League One - the same level in the pyramid - and are currently sixth in the table.

The following Tuesday evening the Pedlars are at home again, with Norwich United Under-23s providing the opposition.

The focus at the weekend was on the Reserves who beat Freethorpe 2-1 in their first home match of the season.

The visitors took the lead with a well struck effort from a half clearance, leaving keeper Craig Powley no chance.

Swaffham were playing most of the football however and the equaliser finally came early into the second half, captain Sam Loomes sliding on to a low cross and diverting the ball into the bottom left hand corner. The Pedlars' winner was converted by Connor Germaney for a well earned and deserved three points.

This weekend the Reserves visit South Walsham

There was a great win in midweek for the Under-18s away to Horsford, with three points keeping them at the top of the Thurlow Nunn Youth League Division North. Sam Carter, Tommy Hunt, Kieran Bruce, Jordan Davies, Scott Moore and Korben Willis (2) all netted for the young Pedlars. This Thursday they aim to continue their FA Youth Cup run away to March Town United.

The older Pedlars were victors in the A47 battle against Necton, Jimmy Chapman, Daniel Jones and Richard Metcalf (2) contributing to the veterans' 4-2 win.

Meanwhile Watton travelled to play Yelverton, who were promoted with them from Division Two of the Anglian Combination last season, and came away with a hard-earned 2-2 draw.

Although they found themselves 2-0 down after some fine saves from Matty Colley, including one from a penalty, goals from Sam Childerhouse and John Dack secured a point.

Watton are away to St Andrews on Saturday in the first round of the Norfolk Senior Cup (2.30pm).
