Swaffham Town twice came from behind to grind out a hard-fought draw against visitors Little Oakley on Saturday.

It was hard going for both teams at Shoemakers Lane, with the weather conditions deteriorating as the game went on, turning the playing surface into a mud bath.

Little Oakley opened the scoring in the 15th minute from a low driven cross from the right hand by-line. It was just out of reach of keeper Sam Pishorn and the Acorns' centre forward got a toe to it for a goal.

The Pedlars equalised just two minutes later. Joe Jackson crossed from the left and Matthew Prudence just got enough on it with his head to deflect the ball home.

Oakley produced a duplicate to their first goal in the 34th minute to go into the dressing room at half-time with the upper hand.

Pishorn made an excellent a double save to deny the Acorns a third and it took until the 80th minute for Swaffham to finally break the visitors down, with Danny Tindall smashing home from eight yards to claim a valuable point.

There is another tough game on Saturday, with Swaffham hitting the road to take on Framlingham Town, who are third in the Thurlow Nunn Division One table, a place above them with three games in hand.

The visitors will be eager to turn the tables on their previous meeting at the end of January, which Framlingham won 2-1.

After working hard to get the pitch ready for the game, it will be another big ask for the Black and White Barrows to get the pitch back to order - hopefully the weather will be kind.

There was better fortune for the Reserves who recorded a 2-1 victory away to Costessey Sports in Division Three of the Anglian Combination. Cameron Lee and Sam Loomes (penalty) got the goals.

The third placed Pedlars also have a big match on Saturday, with fifth placed Earsham due at Shoemakers Lane (2.30pm kick-off).

The Under-18s are at home to Dereham Town on Thursday evening for a fixture billed as the game to decide the Thurlow Nunn Youth North Division. Anticipation and excitement is running high in both camps.

The Veterans continue their campaign this weekend with a trip to Harts. The results have not gone their way and hopes are for a better second half of the season.
