Swaffham Town's latest Thurlow Nunn League Division One match against Halstead on Saturday lasted just 13 minutes.

Following the wet weather of the previous week, the heavy rainfall prior to kick-off had put the game at Shoemakers Lane in doubt but it went ahead on schedule.

However a serious power outage left referee George Byrne with no alternative but to abandon the game just as it was getting interesting in deteriorating conditions.

Two goals that will now be struck from the record books had already been scored, with the visitors going ahead on five minutes and Ryan Pearson levelling after nine.

The power disruption has affected both the clubhouse and floodlighting system. Every effort will be made to rectify the cause this week but there is the possibility that there maybe a review of the next two home first team fixtures, against Leiston Reserves this Saturday and Little Oakley on Saturday week.

Supporters are advised to check the official club website www.swaffhamtownfc.co.uk and social media for updates ahead of the games.

The Reserves saw their decent run of form in Anglian Combination DIvision Three come to an end at Long Stratton Reserves with a 3-2 defeat.

It was a frustrating game, with the rub of the green not going the Pedlars' way. Kieran Bruce and captain James Thompson were on the scorecard for Swaffham, who travel to Redgate Rangers on Saturday.

The Under-18s resume their league campaign this Wednesday away to Fakenham Town. The young Pedlars are hoping to keep up the momentum built before Christmas in this exciting local derby at Clipbush Park.

Thetford Town's dreams of a night out at Carrow Road were dashed when they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat in the quarter-finals of the Norfolk Senior Cup. Town went into Saturday's clash at Wymondham Town as strong favourites to progress against a side who play their football three steps lower in the league period.

But the Anglian Combination Division One leaders ran out worthy winners after extra-time thanks to goals from Danny Mace and Tommy Salmon to maintain their impressive run in the competition.
