Swaffham Town's interest in national competitions is over for another season after a 2-0 defeat at Mildenhall Town on Saturday.
Having made an early exit from the FA Cup, the Pedlars travelled to Suffolk for the first round qualifying in the Buildbase FA Vase hoping to repeat their success of last season when they reached the last 64.
Unfortunately it was not to be. Early season injuries and player availability didn't make it easy for Swaffham but nonetheless both sides wanted to play football and provided great entertainment for the neutral.
Mildenhall eventually took the initiative in the second half, going one up in the 70th minute, and then got a second nine minutes later, with the visitors unable to produce a response.
They can now concentrate their efforts on the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division with a trip to Long Melford coming up on Saturday.
There was a great start to the Under-18s' league campaign with a 6-2 victory over local rivals Fakenham Town in midweek. There was a brace apiece for Jak Uppington and Thomas Wagg, with Elliot Prentice and Connor Greaves making the other contributions. On Monday evening the Swaffham youngsters are away to Cambridge City in the FA Youth Cup.

The Reserves are back in action on Saturday away to Long Stratton Reserves.
Thetford Town's disappointing start to the season continued when they were beaten 2-1 at Wroxham on Friday evening.
It was a sixth defeat in seven games for Town in the Premier Division of the Thurlow Nunn League, although there was some encouragement from the level of their performance at Trafford Park.
The visitors competed well and moved in front in the first half when Bradley Sandell set up Michael Campbell. But former Norwich City striker Grant Holt equalised just before the break and Shaun Taylor scored what proved to be the winner midway through the second period.
Thetford host fellow strugglers Kirkley and Pakefield on Saturday.
