There were goals galore in matches involving Swaffham Town last week, unfortunately not always in their favour.

The Pedlars recorded a cracking 4-1 league victory over Team Bury in midweek.

Ryan Pearson opened the scoring, Alan Woodcock converted two and Ben Champion rounded off the victory with six minutes to go, smashing home from 20 yards.

There was more excitement on Saturday in the Norfolk Senior Cup with Swaffham and neighbours Downham Town sharing eight goals in a tremendous game before Downham won 5-4 on penalties.

Joe Jackson opened the scoring in the 13th minute after being played through by Alex Vincent but the home side equalised through a controversial penalty in the 36th minute and took the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Liam Reed equalised 10 minutes into the second half with a bizarre punt from 45 yards, the ball returning to earth from a great height and bouncing in front of the keeper before going straight into the roof of the net.

Jackson then put the Pedlars in the lead for the second time, heading home from the back post following an pin-point Vincent corner.

Downham brought it back level on 60 minutes and that was the way it stayed at the end of normal time, Downham were reduced to 10 men, Sykes seeing red for persistent fouling, and Swaffham were denied by the woodwork four times.

Downham took the initiative six minutes into the first half of extra-time but Vincent brought the score back level in the last minute of the half, driving low from 20 yards.

With no further goals the tie went to penalties. Tom Kendrick, first up for the Pedlars, saw his effort saved and all other penalties were converted as Downham progressed to round three.

Swaffham are away to Braintree Town Reserves on Saturday and host Diss Town on Tuesday, both league games.

The Reserves had a great 6-2 win against second placed Buxton (Mathew Blackford 2, Jack Prentice, Nathan Trundle, Kurtis Calaby, own goal). On Saturday they at home to Redgate Rangers.

The Under-18s beat North Walsham 7-1 with goals from Korben Willis (2), Jordan Davies (2), Tommy Hunt, Connor Germaney and Harvey Neale.
