Swaffham Town continued their Thurlow Nunn Premier Division campaign with a well earned and deserved point against tough opposition, Haverhill Rovers.
The visitors took the lead after five minutes, Swaffham finding it difficult to start games confidently. George Hutton restored the balance in the 22nd minute, striking from 15 yards, placing to the left-hand side of the goalkeeper.
Hutton put the Pedlars 2-1 up a couple minutes before half-time, placing the hosts back in the driving seat and playing the much better football.
Haverhill levelled the game in the 66th minute, their goal coming from a set-piece, although the scorer arguably should have seen red for retaliation following the award of the kick.
The midweek game against Norwich United has been postponed due to their FA Cup replay against St Ives.
The Pedlars are next in action on Saturday, at home to Newmarket Town (3pm kick-off).
Swaffham Reserves were unlucky away to Costessey Sports, going down 2-0 in Division Three of the Almary Green Anglian Combination. On Saturday they are away to Long Stratton (2.30pm).
Swaffham A are away to Gressenhall in Division One of the Central and South Norfolk League, looking to bounce back from an 8-0 loss at Castle Acre Swift last Wednesday night.
The Pedlars’ under-18s earned a valuable three points on Thursday at home to Easton & Otley College, with Jack Prentice, Matthew Blackford and an own goal making the score 3-1.
Tomorrow night they travel to Aldiss Park to take on Dereham in their next Thurlow Nunn Youth League North Division match.
