Swaffham Town cruised to a well deserved three points at home to Walsham-le-Willows as they moved off the foot of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division table.

After a relatively even first half, the visitors gained advantage from the wind blowing directly down the field but the Pedlars' defence held firm. Walsham were reduced to 10 men after 40 minutes after a straight red card and Swaffham made their man advantage count just after the hour mark when they took the lead. Alex Vincent latched on to Alan Woodcock's long through ball and his left-footed volley from 18 yards found the back of the net.

Joe Jackson doubled Swaffham's advantage when he headed home Ben Champion's cross from the left.

The points in the bag but much more to be done to retain their position and hope that the FA's review of leagues constitution goes in favour of the Pedlars.

On Saturday Swaffham travel to Stoneylands to take on Long Melford before rounding off their campaign the following weekend with a home clash with FC Clacton which may be a shoot-out to see who finishes off the bottom.

The Reserves were in action on Saturday at Long Stratton Reserves and went down 3-2, with the goals coming from Cameron Lee and Korben Willis. Swaffham should have got something from the game but saw their mistakes punished. Their final game is on Saturday at Norwich CEYMS Reserves.

The Veterans, who were beaten 3-1 at Unthank Arms last Sunday in a well contested match, now look forward to next weekend when they are at home to Scole United. Tony Chapman netted for the consolation.

The Under-18s ensured they keep the pot boiling in the Thurlow Nunn Youth North Division, with a thoroughly deserved 8-0 win at Lakeford Rangers meaning that the title race could go down to the final match.

A hat-trick for Matthew Blackford, two for Jake Slender and one each from Aaron Smith, Jack Prentice and Korben Willis made up the tally. This Wednesday they are away to North Walsham with all to play for ahead of their final game against Dereham Town on Thursday, April 27.
