Saham Toney hosted Dereham and, with some heavy rain before the game and the possibility of more later, both captains agreed to reduce the overs and play a 30-over game.

Saham batted first and were 144 all out in the 28th over.

The innings fell apart after an excellent start which saw Saham go from 89-1 to 125-5. G Maxwell top-scored with a well-made 58 and got good support from M Thomas (18).

While the top six batsmen all reached double figures the last five could not and the final total was disappointing.

Saham knew they had to do the business with the ball and ripped through the Dereham batting order to bowl them out for 86. T Smart led the way with an excellent opening spell of 3-21 and this was backed up by W Dyer who claimed 3-12 off five overs. Other wickets were shared between W Smart (1-16), G Leggett (1-19) and I Lovick (1-13).

Bowlers received excellent support from their fielders as seven batsmen were caught out as Saham won by 59 runs.

During the week Saham U15 continued their good run of form when they beat their counterparts from Old Buckenham by two runs.

Batting first, Saham got 95 before bowling Old Buckenham out for 93 in the last over.

This week Saham entertain Garboldisham on Saturday while on Friday night they are holding an auction night at The Wells Cole Community Centre, Saham Toney.
