SAHAM Toney ended the Alliance Division One season on a high by beating local neighbours Bradenham but it was not enough to avoid relegation from Alliance Division One.

Winning the toss Bradenham batted first but soon found themselves in trouble at 15-4. W Smart and W Dyer both produced excellent opening spells and claimed two wickets a piece.

M Hunter (82) and B Whyte (63) rebuilt the innings with a fine partnership of 151 before W Dyer came back to claim his third wicket.

The innings finished on 224-7 off their 46 overs. W Dyer bowled an excellent spell claiming 12-1-42-4 with W Smart

2-54 and I Lovick 1-44.

In response, openers A Wood (29) and S Mower put on 83 for the first wicket. I Lovick (25) then joined S Mower and they put on a further 79 before four wickets fell for just 17 runs.

This included S Mower who made a fine 85 before unluckily playing on. It was left to W Dyer to continue his good day and see Saham over the winning line in the last over by scoring 25 not out.

M Evans claimed 4-54, P Dewing 3-44 and B Gates 1-24.

Ultimately not scoring enough runs or claiming enough wickets in crucial matches has cost Saham dear this season.

The club would like to thank all its sponsors and supporters for their commitment this season.

The club's annual President's Day will be held on Sunday, September 20, 1pm start when a Saham XI take on a Select XI - all welcome.
