Swaffham Town, having anchored Fakenham firmly to the bottom of Ridgeons League Division One, have a chance to climb still higher on Saturday when they entertain Long Melford, who are only one point better off.

The Pedlars won a disappointing weekend derby2-0 despite having to play the second half with only 10 men at Clipbush Park.

Having taken the lead with a 14th minute penalty converted by Andrew Chatters, Swaffham conceded a spot kick right on half-time, Sam Darlon adjudged to have kept out a shot with his arm. However, Lee Brookes dived to high left to keep out Karl Pask's penalty effort.

The points were sealed by Matthew Kenny's untidy goal on the hour and the Pedlars looked worth their win in a derby which generally lacked passion and quality.

Swaffham were the more inventive outfit and were the better passers of the ball, but there was little to warm a season's best gate of 122 at Fakenham on a day when the result was the most important goal of the day.
