Swaffham earned and deserved all three points from their local derby against Fakenham Town.
The Pedlars played the far more entertaining football and dominated the first half.
Nick Castellan gave the Pedlars the lead with a strike from the edge of the area, beating the keeper to his left, the ball smashing the top right hand corner of the net.
There was little response from the Ghosts and any efforts were comfortably dealt with by a firm Pedlars defence. The biggest threat came from long throw-ins.
Five minutes into the second half, captain Alex Vincent on a charge, was brought down in the box, his conversion doubling the lead.
Fakenham got one back with 15 minutes to go, a deep corner headed home at the back post. Swaffham held on to take the three points back to Shoemakers Lane, league honours even between the two rivals.
On Tuesday night the Pedlars were away to Ely City after the newspaper had gone to press. This Saturday Swaffham are away to Stanway Rovers.
Elsehere, Gorleston saw their title hopes suffer a dent as a late equaliser denied them all three points at home to Stanway Rovers.
The Greens looked to be heading for an important victory thanks to Aaron Taylor’s 34th-minute header from a Jack Garrod corner.
However, the second goal wouldn’t come and as the game wore on Gorleston retreated deeper and deeper into their own territory.
They were made to pay when, four minutes from time, Stanway struck an equaliser as substitute Romario Dunne headed home.
Gorleston sit in third place, 13 points behind leaders Mildenhall, who have played three games more than the Greens.
Mildenhall were 2-1 winners away at Kirkley & Pakefield, who had taken an early lead through Jack Herbert.
n Swaffham Reserves had the trek to Hemsby on Saturday. Two-nil down at half-time, the Pedlars brought the game level through goals from Kurtis Callaby and Alan Woodcock only to go down three two in the closing minutes.
This Saturday they are at home to Horsford.
