Storm Doris left her mark on Shoemakers Lane as several sections of fencing were blown over, giving the ground staff, some hard graft on top of their normal match-day preparations.
As usual they stepped up to the mark with the repairs completed well before kick-off.
Deteriorating conditions didn't make the football easy as the Pedlars crashed to a strong Stanway Rovers side still vying for position at the top of the Premier Division.
The 6-1 defeat was not a true reflection on the game though as Swaffham had chances in the first half. However, as so often this season, they were unable to convert them.
The visitors took the lead in the fifth minute after a quick break allowed Stanway's new number nine, Shamido Pedulu, to score his first of many during the game. Their second, a minute before half-time came from the same route – a long ball behind the defence allowed Pedulu to run through and finish with accuracy.
Two more in quick succession in the 54th and 56th minutes put the game to bed but the Pedlars' consolation came shortly after as Alex Vincent fired home from 15 yards after an impressive quick counter attack.
Stanway netted their final goal in the last minute of the game. This weekend the Pedlars are away to Ely City, the fixture against the Robins is usually entertaining and the Pedlars are desperate to claim the points to pull away from the foot of the table.
Elsewhere in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Gorleston title hopes took a dent as they were beaten 2-1 by Ely City. The Greens just weren't at the races all afternoon and Joel Watts' late strike proved nothing more than a consolation.
n Swaffham Reserves fared better than the first team in a tough away fixture at Beccles Caxton.
The Pedlars came out 2-1 victors thanks to goals from Sam Loomes and Korben Willis.
This weekend they welcome South Walsham to Shoemakers Lane.
The Under 18s' match was called off in the week due to a waterlogged pitch at the FDC.
This week they resume cup action, at home to Aylsham in the Thurlow Nunn Youth Cup (kick-off 7.45pm).
