They are now both AJA Open National champions and the club congratulates them.

Club members travelled to Belgium, firstly to a tournament in Ede on the Saturday.

Sophie Buller achieved a well-deserved bronze medal by winning two fights. Elinor Glynn fought extremely well but was overpowered by her opponents. Jenna-Jaye Nicholson beat all five players with ease and showed great technique and style throughout her fights.

Ben Nicholson fought extremely well winning his first fight with ease but lost his next fight which meant he was out the competition. Tom Turner and Jonathan Drain came away with well-deserved bronze medals.

On the Sunday players competed in Venray, also in Belgium. Ben Nicholson won his first two fights demonstrating excellent skill. He looked like he was fighting for his life when he battled with his Georgian opponent, a hard fight which Ben lost.

Tired and battle-wounded Ben was up against his next opponent but he lost this fight and was out of the competition. Emma Turner fought extremely hard in all her fights and although she lost, she is gaining skills and confidence every competition.

Tom Turner despatched his first opponent with an excellent arm lock, and lost his next fight against an extremely powerful German player.

Tom won a silver medal. He is doing extremely well and the club hopes to see him at some major youth tournaments soon.

Jonathan Drain also fought extremely well, beating all his players with some fantastic judo to win a gold medal.
