This season's competitive matches at Watton Bowls Club started with Kevin Wilson losing 21-10 at home in the county four wood singles against B Goff of Dereham St Nicholas.
In the county pairs there was a 22-21 home win for Richard Exley and Malcolm Hamilton against the Fletcher brothers from Dereham, while Peter Myhill and Graham Vellam lost 7-26 to Gary Goodrum of Wymondham, last year's winner.
John Hunter and Kevin Wilson, away to Gary Oakley at Wymondham, recorded a 22-17 win.
In the county fours Exley, Hunter, Hamilton and Wilson lost by 15-25 shots at Diss.
In the EBA league Watton started their campaign with a 58-46 (5-0) defeat against Dereham. Keith Bennett, Brian Ledbetter, David Violet and Kevin Wilson lost 12-15. John Seage, Charles Newman, Malcolm Hamilton and John Hunter by 15-23 and Len Green, Jim Adams, Philip Lapworth and Graham Vellam by 19-20.
