Friends and family wished a happy birthday to former Swaffham Town player Albert Hudson last week.
Albert has just turned 80 and to mark the occasion a gathering took place at the club.
The longest serving member of the club, Albert used to be collected from home at the age of 16 by club legend Bob Tuttle to play for Swaffham.
He was a formidable full-back in his day and despite having setbacks, including breaking his leg twice, he continued to play well into his fifties.
Albert has seen many changes at Shoemakers Lane, now with its second clubhouse and many alterations over the years. He is still an active volunteer and the main source of knowledge when it comes to club history.
It’s now only just over a month until the Pedlars’ first Thurlow Nunn League Division One fixture of the season, a home clash with Needham Market Reserves on Saturday, July 29.
