Luke Bailey from Thetford was voted Players' Player of the Year at West Suffolk College Sports Academy's ninth annual

awards evening, which took place recently.

Luke was the clear winner of this award. Sports Academy manager Neil Reader said: “His attitude throughout the season has been first class and he has developed very well.

“His dedication was rewarded with a call-up to Bury Town's first team squad towards the end of the season.

“Luke also played for Suffolk U18s in the FA County Youth Cup Final win against Cambridgeshire.

“His willingness to put his body on the line when required certainly played a big part in his peers voting for him.

“Luke has also weighed in with some important goals throughout the season.”

The event was held at Bury Town FC's ground, Ram Meadow.

Reader said: “In the past 12 months we have reaped considerable success, both as teams and individuals.

“Each and every student should feel a great sense of pride in their contribution this season.

“We are sincerely grateful to college staff, volunteers, parents and relatives who have supported us in practical ways and from the sidelines.

“One of the biggest pleasures of this job is knowing that wherever we travel or whoever we entertain the conduct and professionalism of West Suffolk College students remains as high as it has ever been.

“Trophies and accolades are something to savour but the compliments from outsiders, who regularly comment on our students' behaviour and conduct, put the icing on the cake.”
