In this Ridgeons First Division Cup preliminary round tie last Tuesday it was end to end in the opening minutes.

Yarmouth volleyed over the bar in the fourth minute and Matthew Kenny had a header pushed onto the bar from a Gavin Norman knock-on in the seventh.

The deadlock broken in the 14th minute, with Swaffham failing to clear and the resulting shot deflected in off Tom Rainford.

Swaffham appeared stunned and their creativity periodically dried up.

Yarmouth's second in the 24th minute, following a corner resulting from a fine Lee Brooks save - an unchallenged header - did jump-start the Pedlars.

A well-worked attack starting from defence saw Lewis Hemeter find Gavin Norman who pulled the ball back for Andy Hunter to shoot, the parried save falling to Kyle Plumb to knock in.

Two minutes later in the 40th, Norman was brought down in the box but failed to score from the spot.

Swaffham started the second half as they had finished but there seemed little evidence that they were going to level the scores.

The football was entertaining and the intermittent drizzle was welcome on a warm and breezy evening but the scoreline remained 2-1.
