Swaffham Town Reserves' title hopes were unaffected despite defeat at the weekend – as the top five all lost in Division Three of the Almary Green Anglian Combination.
Tenth-placed Downham Town Reserves were the visitors to Shoemakers Lane on Saturday. Goals from Ashley Payne and Andy Willmott were enough to earn victory for Downham, with substitute Isaac Lindford getting the goal for the Pedlars.
Swaffham remain third though as leaders Mattishall Res surprisingly lost 4-1 at Hemsby and second-placed Blofield United Res lost 3-2 at Costessey Sports. The teams just behind them lost as well, Yelverton 2-0 at home to Easton and Norwich CEYMS Res lost 3-0 at Fakenham Town Res. This Saturday Swaffham travel to lowly South Walsham.
The club's U18s beat Saffron Walden Town 4-1 in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League. This Thursday they host Mildenhall Town, kick-off 7.45pm.
