Swaffham kickboxing academy travelled to Debenham for the Suffolk Showdown 4 held by CKA, with three students competing.
First to the ring was Neil Powley who agreed to a rematch for another charity bout with Tony Browes. It was a very close fight but Neil got the win he had trained hard for.
Second up was Josh Saddler, fighting against talented and experienced Lewis Dunnet. Josh fought well connecting several good punches and kicks, but Lewis' experience got him the win.
Last up for SKA, was Julian Zalums, who had challenged the hosts' own Lee Parrot for a shot at the east area 90kg title. Julian trained very hard for this, getting down to his lowest weight ever.
He also completely changed his style of fighting from his previous few bouts, which worked well and confused not only his opponent but the cornermen and coach. Lee was knocked down once in the first round, twice in the second and stumbled early in the third. With this the defending title holders corner threw in the towel, giving Julian the win and now the east area 90kg title holder.
The first belt held by a student from Swaffham kickboxing academy. A big thank you to all our supporters that travelled to cheer on all three fighters.
