Another good week for Watton Squash Club as the fourth-placed second team put the pressure on third-placed East Anglia with a 20-4 home victory in their penultimate match again Division Two opponents Cromer.

Chris Haythorpe cruised the first two 9-2 9-6 before a spirited fightback by his opponent lead to a close third. Chris held out nicking it 10-8 to come through 3-0 in straight games. Kevin Blake started sluggishly, losing the first two games 9-1 9-4.
Kev dug in using his experience to take the third 9-5 and also fourth 9-7 to force a decider. The fifth was close with Kevin closing it out 9-7 to win 3-2.
Bobby Hunt saved a game point in a close first taking it 10-9. The next was just as close with Bobby again coming through 10-8. His opponent then crumbled with Bobby taking the third 9-0 to win 3-0.
Dev Mahatme was never in the first, losing it 9-1. Dev then seemed in control in the second but lost concentration and lost it 10-8. Fortunately his opponent faded with Dev taking full advantage taking the next three 9-1 9-1 9-0 to come through 3-2.
First string Paul Goodchild was never troubled while cruising to a 9-6 9-2 9-2 straight-game win.

Their final match is away to Broadland next week on the same night that Division Two champions elect Watton first team are hoping to maintain their unbeaten record and achieve 16 straight victories when they face East Anglia Club colleagues. Watton II will be for once hoping they do the business.
