Earlier this month 14 of the 20 surviving senior captains of Richmond Park Golf Club took part in the annual Past Senior Captains' Cup competition.
On a beautiful spring morning Ken Cundy, Peter Ford and Derek Clarke set off from the first tee with three splendid drives which set the standard for those who followed.
The course was in excellent condition and by the halfway mark there were several promising scores. The back nine was keenly contested and at the end the leading two were separated by a single point on countback.
Ben Stone just edged Derek Clarke into second place while Dave Palmer took the prize for the nearest-the-pin in two shots on the 12th hole.
The players were joined by two other former captains, Ray Sharpe and George Travi, who were unable to take part in the competition. The prizes were presented by the present senior captain Bill Gautier, who is presiding during the club's silver anniversary year.
