The husband and wife team of Brenda and Bill Neill helped to run a very successful Ladies President's Day at Swaffham Golf Club.

Ladies president Brenda and club president Bill organised for a delicious halfway house and an excellent meal prepared by chef Ian. Prize-giving followed, when Brenda was presented with an orchid from ladies captain Barbara Stevenson and Brenda presented Bill with a bottle of brandy for all his help.

Division One was won by Julie Proctor (18-36pts), with Meg Blake (21-25) second and Jacqui Allender (18-32) third. The best front nine was recorded by Elaine Thexton (18pts) and back nine by Sian Fenn-Green (19pts).

Clare Sutton (35-34pts) won Division Two ahead of Elma Shedden (27-32) and Linda Wagstaff (26-29), with the best front nine from Greta Quinton-Jones (16pts) and the best back nine from Linda Chestney (15pts).

Nearest the Pin on the 16th was won by Meg Blake and Straightest Drive on the ninth by Gill McKinnon.

More than 50 members also took part in the Kings Lynn VW Bogey Competition at Swaffham GC on Saturday, June 21.

Tom Bishop took first place with +7. Bishop is one of the club's newest members, based at RAF Marham, and with his handicap of 12 may be one to watch out for this summer.

Carl Smithers was second with +6, followed by Keith Emmerson in third with +4 and Jeremy Rhodes in fourth with +3

Rhodes' score of +3 was matched by Andy Austin, who took the sponsors invitation of a Volkswagen for the weekend by winning the nearest the pin on 16. He achieved this with his first ever hole-in-one.
