HAMONDS High School pupils Adam Tuck has been getting a taste of the construction industry working on his own school with local contractor Mansell Construction Services Ltd.
The 14 year-old, year ten pupil, who lives in Swaffham, is studying for his GCSE's alongside a BTEC introductory certificate in construction (brickwork) level 1 which involves one day a week at the college of West Anglia, King's Lynn and every Friday based on site at Hamonds High School with Mansell, where he has been enjoying his hands-on experience in bricklaying and carpentry. Adam is currently working on the refurbishment of the existing science rooms.
During his spare time Adam enjoys clay pigeon shooting and helping his family with DIY and 'bits and bobs' around the home. He aspires to become a bricklayer and would like to pursue a career with Mansell when he leaves school in July next year.
Senior site manager John Potter is very pleased with the way Adam contributes on site turning up at 9am sharp, ready for his working day. He said: “Adam is a nice, polite lad who is very keen and willing to learn. He frequently asks questions about working in the building trade and I am more than happy to support him”.
