THE annual Wayland Agricultural Society dinner dance raised �10,941.62 for Nelson's Journey, a Norfolk charity supporting children who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life.

THE annual Wayland Agricultural Society dinner dance raised �10,941.62 for Nelson's Journey, a Norfolk charity supporting children who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life.

Almost 250 people attended the event in March at Lynford Hall and money was raised by an auction and other fundraising games.

Dianne Sculfer, chairman of the dinner dance committee, said: 'We had our best ever attendance this year and thanks go to our guests who were very generous on the night with donations and local businesses and friends of the society who donated prizes.'

Sophie Berry, funding officer for the charity said: 'This is a significant amount of money for our small charity.'

The next fundraising event for the society is the Wayland Show which will this year be held on Sunday, August 1 at Brandon Road, Watton.
