A Breckland farm has been given permission for a major expansion, which will triple the number of pigs it keeps.
Wayland Farms, in Stow Bedon near Watton, currently keeps 2,000 pigs on site, at Cherry Tree Farm.
However, this number stands to increase more than threefold, after Breckland Council gave the green light for the piggery to undergo a major expansion.
The plan will see 10 existing buildings demolished and replaced with seven, larger buildings, which will allow the piggery to house 6,990 pigs.
Conservative councillor Phillip Cowen, who represents Stow Bedonl, raised concerns that the expansion could exacerbate traffic problems in the area.
He said: "Objection from neighbours is all about traffic, particularly at the junction with the A1075. It is going to cause accidents."
However, a number of highways improvements to Cherry Tree Lane were included in the application, including the addition of two new passing points and widening.
The application was approved.
