A bride-to-be has told how a surprise public proposal at a town carnival made her feel like she was in 'a Disney movie'.

Carnival-goers in Watton witnessed the emotional moment after Paul Andrew Page took to the stage to make a very public declaration of love.

The 24-year-old mustered up the courage to ask the love-of-his-life, Georgia Clarke, to join him in front of hundreds of people, where he got down on one knee.

Mr Page, a warehouse operative, said: "Georgia knew I was going to propose she just didn't know when. I was trying to hide it from her but she was like a detective.

"It was meant to happen the day before at a restaurant but she knew something was going on so I decided to do it the next day at the carnival.

"I called the organisers on the Saturday to ask if I could propose and they said yes.

"So at 1.30pm the next day I got on the stage and straight away all of these emotions just hit me. I burst into tears before I had even said anything."

The proposal on Sunday, September 15, was filmed by Ms Clarke's family, who all knew what was about to happen, including her two-year-old daughter, Pearl, who was watching from the crowd.

Ms Clarke, 20, said: "When I first got pulled up on stage I thought oh my goodness. Tears were rolling down my face but I thought I can't cry because he was already a mess.

"It was so scary at first but when I was up there, it was like I forgot everyone was watching and it was just me and him. It felt like a Disney movie."

The couple met in March after matching on the dating site Tinder and described their first date as love at first sight.

After only three months the couple moved in together in Norwich Road, and six months down the line Mr Page said it only felt right to make them a proper family.

Ms Clarke added: "My daughter has a chronic lung disease and is regularly rushed to hospital. So to find someone like Paul, who gets on so well with her and will do anything for us, and will always support us was so important. I feel very lucky."

The young family are now looking ahead to the future and hope to set a date for the wedding in 2021.

Mr Page said: "It's everything I have ever wanted. I'm going to do my best to provide for and support Georgia and Pearl because they mean the world to me."
