A COURAGEOUS teenager from Watton who fought back from injuries sustained in a road accident has won an Outstanding Achievement of the Year award.

Chris Brown, 19, was nominated by work based co-ordinator Chris Rayment and his employer Lee Cranmer because of the courage he has shown on his return to college after a near fatal car crash

He completed a Plumbing Level 2 course at West Suffolk College this year, and was honoured at the East of England Building Services Engineering Regional Training Awards 2009.

Mr Rayment said: “Chris came back to college sooner that I would have liked, but he proved us all wrong and completed his MES Level 2 Plumbing course before most of the other apprentices in his group.

“Chris has proved that he is a very motivated young man who has a lot of determination to succeed in the plumbing industry.”

Chris has now started the two year Level 3 Plumbing course at West Suffolk College, with the support of his employer, Norfolk based Lee Cranmer Plumbing and Heating.

Mr Cranmer said: “Chris has become a very competent plumber. I commend his determination and courage, both as his employer and friend. He thoroughly deserves this award.”

The awards were presented at The West Wing at Ickworth House, Horringer.
