YOUNGSTERS from a Watton primary school bagged a big cheque last Friday in exchange for performing the honours at the official launch of the town's new Co-operative store.

The High Street shop, which was formerly a Somerfield, is one of the first in the country to be rebranded after The Co-operative Group's 1.56bn takeover of the Somerfield supermarket chain.

The Co-operative says the deal has helped secure 35 jobs at the Watton store as well as thousands of others across the country.

The ribbon to open the rebranded shop was cut by youngsters from Westfield Infant and Nursery School to cheers and applause from spectators.
