It will begin to feel a lot like Christmas in Watton this weekend.
On Sunday the town council’s 11th Festive Market will take over the High Street leading up to the Christmas lights switch-on.
The event will be opened at 1pm by mayor Stan Hebborn followed by the Smokehouse Blues Band leading Santa and his elf helper to his grotto at Wayland Hall.
The street will be filled with festive and craft stalls and a fun fair.
Entertainment will include a mobile disco and the town’s very own Phoenix Pipes and Drums Band.
New to this year are the free to enter Mini Concerts which will be held at the methodist church.
At 1.50pm will be the Breckland Hand Bell Ringers and at 2.50pm Breckland J’s youngsters, joined by the Harmonettes, will sing Christmas songs.
There will be some carol singing around the Christmas tree and lots of hilarity from Alex the Clown, who will be in the Town from 3pm.
The lights will be switched-on by Mr Hebborn at 4pm.
The High Street in Watton will be closed to traffic from 11am until 5pm.
