More than 130 job-seekers took advantage of an event where agencies and employers from across Norfolk came together to offer a “job-finding package” for those in search of work.
The third Just the Job event, sponsored by Breckland Council and delivered in partnership with Job Centre Plus, was held on Wednesday (1st April) at Queen's Hall in Watton. Stalls included potential employers, skills and training advice, guidance for business start-ups and help for those faced with claiming benefits. Popular demand saw the return of a workshop where individuals were given one-to-one help with putting together a curriculum vitae.
Executive member for economic and housing, Paul Claussen, explained why the event had been organised: “This is a difficult time for local businesses and we are aware that many have had to lose staff in recent months.
“These events are designed to provide a comprehensive package of support for those affected, whether they are in search of work, looking to improve their skills or considering starting their own business”.
In the last 12 months, Just the Job events have been held in Thetford and Dereham. Further similar events are planned in the coming year. Contact Lindy Warmer, Breckland Economic Development Officer for information, tel: 01362 656870
