From magic Punch and Judy shows to a Viennese gala evening, this year's Watton Festival is promising something for everyone.

From magic Punch and Judy shows to a Viennese gala evening, this year's Watton Festival is promising something for everyone.

The bi-annual event has grown consistently over the past eighteen years and festival chairman John Kerr has pledged that 2009 will be the best ever.

He said: 'We hope this year's programme will be even better than the last Festival held in 2007.

'The committee has worked constantly since the end of the last festival and we are trying one or two new events - a film for young people and an evening of humour.

'Our dance event is again offering two new areas of dances not seen before within the festival.'

Two films will be shown during the festival, children's favourite Wind in the Willows and black and white classic The Philadelphia Story.

This year's plays will be A Warning to the Curious, a haunting tale in which a murderous cleric falls prey to an ancient curse, and Tales of Georgian London, which is written and performed by Alison Neil.

Amongst the musical offerings will be Winston the singing farmer and Chris Smith and the String of Pearls.

The festival runs between October 24 and 31.
