BIKES donated by people living in the Watton area are to be sent to Ghana to help those in need.

Watton Neighbourhood Policing Team has been working with young people and Nick's Cycles in Watton to make the 30 old bikes safe for adults and children to ride in Africa.

Some of the bikes have also been sent to Learndirect in Great Yarmouth where the Youth Offending Team have been helping to repair them.

The bikes, which will be sent to Ghana by the charity Re-cycle, will be given to adults and children who would usually walk miles to get to work or school each day.

Doctors and nurses will also be able to use the bikes so that they can get to their patients quicker.

Watton PCSO Rachael Tissington said: 'The bikes will make a difference to people's lives in the less economically developed country and hopefully make their Christmas extra special.'
