THE Dragonfly Gallery at Wayland House in Watton was packed for the preview of a Christmas Exhibition which opened on Saturday.

Guests enjoyed mulled wine or spiced apple juice with mince pies while viewing the mix of paintings, many with a seasonal theme. There is also a range of Christmas cards for sale and some locally made jewellery.

Carbrooke artist Simon Leigh had a successful evening, selling four of his six paintings at the preview. Simon is one of a number of Wayland artists showing their work and they are joined by old Norfolk friends such as Chris Hollick, Paula Fenton and Liz Murfitt, and textile artist Teresa Griffiths with her seasonal wall-hanging.

The Gallery welcomed Isobel Bartholomew to the exhibition this year. Isobel is a botanical artist and tutor with many years of experience, and has been awarded numerous medals by the Royal Horticultural Society.

Her work is featured in a number of publications including the RHS New Dictionary of Gardening and Dr Shirley Sherwood's book A Passion for Plants - Contemporary Botanical Masterworks.

The exhibition, which is free to visitors, runs until December 19 from 10am - 4pm on weekdays and 10am - 1pm on Saturdays.
