Homeowners have been warned of a cold calling scam where those responsible attempt to access their victims' properties.

Norfolk County Council's Trading Standards department says it has received reports of doorstep cold callers in the Swaffham area.

During one incident, a resident received a cold call from a man who posed several questions about the property's insulation and asked if he could "come inside and inspect it".

The resident declined the offer and subsequently reported the cold call to Trading Standards.

The council has advised residents to be wary of claims made by doorstep cold callers, and to never give them access to your property, agree to services, buy items or permit return visits if approached in this manner.

Anyone concerned about doorstep cold calling in Norfolk can contact Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice consumer service, using its online reporting form or by calling on 03454 04 05 06.
