A history group is hold a talk on Constance Villiers Stuart, who lived in Beachamwell Hall.
The author and painter who passed away in 1966, spent most of her life living at the Beachamwell estate but for three years before the First World War she lived in India where her husband was stationed with the Army.
Beachamwell Local History Group will explore her life in India during a special talk on May 10 and examine many of the events described in her book, Gardens of the Great Mughals. The book was published in 1913 and at the time, it was one of the first to be published on the subject, attracting widespread interest in Britain. The talk is titled, Constance Villiers Stuart in India: From Beachamwell to Bharatpur, and is on May 10 at 7.30pm at Beachamwell Village Hall. Tickets, £3 from Ceres in Swaffham or on the door. Entry is free for members.
