A TOWN councillor has his sights set on improving Swaffham with a bid for Anglia In Bloom 2010.

Charles Gunner is entering Swaffham into the regional competition that encourages communities to work together to revamp the down trodden areas of their town

A team of councillors, residents, and community workers are currently working alongside Mr Gunner to create an action plan of improvements that they will submit to Anglia In Bloom this month .

Prospective changes include a youth group, a community project, a Market Place area floral display, a public open space project, a business or retail enterprise, an area gardening project, as well as entering two resident communities for the neighbourhood awards.

The town will be judged by Anglia In Bloom on their horticultural excellence, sustainability, environmental improvements and community involvement.

Mr Gunner said: 'This is an important part of the advance Swaffham initiative for 2010 and I ask Swaffham residents and businesses to back and support us as much as they can.'

Swaffham won the Anglia In Bloom neighbourhood award in 2008 and 2009, encouraging the councillor to enter Swaffham for the main town award this year .
