Tackling anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and litter in the Highfield Avenue and Lynn Road area will be the top priorities for Swaffham police in the next few weeks.

The list was agreed at a public meeting held by the town's safer neighbourhood team yesterday.

The team will also retain one of the priorities set in July – targeting shop lifting in the town centre.

According to figures covering July and August, there was an increase in reports of criminal damage, sexual offences and theft compared to the same period last year.

There was also a slight increase in violence against the person, from 27 to 28, but the number of stolen cars and domestic burglaries fell.

The next public priority-setting meeting will be held on at 10am on Tuesday November 20 at Swaffham fire station.
